Call to oppose HR 3221 – Feds to Control kids from Birth to 5

Where in the Constitution does it say anything about the Federal government controlling education. The fact that the Feds send ‘mandates’ to the State level and have education czars is one thing that has to be stopped. Along with the federal regulations regarding eduction of our country’s children, they have come up with this little slice of crap. The HR 332 has to do with federal interference in early childhood education. Big Brother is at it again. Call and write you non-representatives. Being nice doesn’t mean you don’t have to play nice. We have one crisis after the other with this current administration and it will take all of us to stay on top of the shredding of the Constitution and to stop the erosion of our freedoms.

HSLDA: Call Now to Oppose Federal
Funding for Early Education Programs

Dear HSLDA Members and Friends,

The U.S. House of Representatives is scheduled to vote today or
tomorrow on H.R. 3221, the “Student Aid and Fiscal Responsibility Act
of 2009.”

This bill should be opposed for the following reasons:

> It will create federal funding for state early education programs
for children from birth to 5 years old, allowing government officials
to make parenting decisions for children in these programs;

> States may use the funds to create mandatory early education
programs, since the bill does not require that the programs be
voluntary;

> The states will have an economic incentive to increase the number of
children in early education programs, and may pressure families to
enroll their children in these programs;

> It will greatly increase the size and scope of the federal
government’s involvement in education.

You can read HSLDA’s detailed legislative analysis of H.R. 3221 here:
http://www.hslda.org/…

ACTION REQUESTED

Please call your U.S. Representative with the following message.
There is no need to identify yourself as a homeschooler:

“Please oppose H.R. 3221. This bill will create new federal funding
for early education programs in the states. The federal government
should not expand its involvement in early education programs.
Parents, not federal or state officials, should decide what is
appropriate for their children.”

You may find the contact information for your U.S. Representative by
using HSLDA’s Legislative Toolbox:
http://www.hslda.org/…

BACKGROUND

H.R. 3221 will amend the Higher Education Act of 1965 relating to
student loans. It will entirely change how college students receive
financial aid to attend colleges and universities by eliminating all
student loans through private lenders. The U.S. Department of
Education will take over all student loans, which will greatly
increase the federal government’s role in higher education.

Additionally, H.R. 3221 includes Title IV (Section 401) which creates
an “early learning challenge fund.” This early learning challenge
fund would allow the federal government to provide grants to the
states to support state efforts to increase early education programs
from birth to age 5.

H.R. 3221 was introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives on July
15, 2009, and was approved by the House Committee on Education and
Labor on July 21, 2009, by a vote of 30-17.

HSLDA opposes efforts to increase the federal role in early education.
H.R. 3221 is costly, and could lead to pressure on families to accept
these federally-funded early education programs.

Thank you for standing with us for liberty.

Sincerely,

J. Michael Smith, Esq.
President, HSLDA

912dc, I’m Not Ready to make ‘Nice’.

Hey Washington, I’m Not Ready to Make Nice, I’m Not Ready to Back Down.

You get your State Run Media, NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN to ignore 2 million voices, you make fun of and degrade Americans by calling us ‘The mob’, ‘tea baggers’, nazies’. You tell us that this historic march on Washington, where we stood at your front door means nothing to you because you have other information that tells you that your jobs are safe and that we are loons. Guess what Washington, you haven’t seen anything yet. You will eventually hear us and get the message.

I’m Not Ready to make ‘nice’.

912dc, March on Washington – DC cop says we are polite

IMG_2644

The words of one policeperson who was charged with standing along the parade route rings in my ears.  I stood near him taking photos of the marchers. People would come up to him and ask questions, make comments and generally just engage him. He couldn’t or wouldn’t say much of anything in response. He did say though, to a patriot that asked him something about the march. He said, “It sure is the most polite group of protesters I have ever seen.”

You would think that human nature, having 2 million people in one place, would cause some folks to flip out, act out and otherwise demonstrate some sort of rudeness. I did not see any of that.  People were sharing extra water, food, flags and whatever the stranger that they just met may need or want. We brought extra flags and I handed them to anyone who wanted one. I saw a couple walking without a sign or a flag and I offered him two flags. He began to reach in his back pocket, to pay. I guess he had been around a few hawkers and thought I was selling flags. I waved him off and told him, no, take these, there is no charge. He was elated and shocked and gladly took the flags, handing one to his partner. Immediately their arms went up in the air, marching, waving flags.

Through the miracle of cell phones we were able to hook up with Logistics Monster, Dr. Kate and The Dame Truth. What a great group of women they are. I so admire their blogs and postings, knocking it out of the park, just sayin it like it is. We walked the march together for a short while before getting separated. The crowd was thick and moving at a decent clip. If you stopped to take a photo there was a good chance that anyone you may have been walking with would be lost in the crowd. We did manage to run across each other late in the day where under the shade of a large tree we shared our feelings regarding the event. Their blogs are here:  http://logisticsmonster.com/, http://drkatesview.wordpress.com/, http://thedametruth.net/wordpress/.

There are just so many photos of the event. I will keep posting some shots this week.  Courage to See has her photos online HERE with more to come.

Here are some photos with more to come in another post plus some videos will be added.

March on Washington, DC, 9-12 Project

We the People

We the People

We the People are coming, are here and are ready to have our voices heard.

Northwest Indiana has a showing in DC with some of us arriving Thursday. We drove in and had the words ‘9-12 Project Washington DC’ painted on the back window. During our drive people in cars, semi-trucks, work vans and pickups slowing down so that we would look over.  Any other time this has happened, on a normal day I would expect to see a finger and the words FU mouthed in my direction.  Instead, what we got where yells of ‘Right On!’, people shaking their hands with a big thumbs up. It was uplifting and somehow comforting that we were not alone in our mission.

Friday we took the Metro into DC with our maps handy, looking for the blue line, armed with sticky notes on which stop to look for, not risking a transfer to the yellow line and opting to ride the blue, although a longer ride, safer for the Indiana noobs.

At the hotel, on the train, in DC we saw people with Gadsden flags, American flags, patriotic gear be it a button, t-shirt or some other signal that they were one of us. NRA hats seemed popular also. I made it a point to talk to the strangers who gave hints that they were in DC for the march. Everywhere I turned was another person, another group, all smiling, all fresh with an energy of anticipation.  The usual farewell was ‘See you tomorrow!’.  We had spare maps of the parade route and handed those to people who seemed especially confused. We talked about the time of the event, start here, end there, the weather and how it was just friggin amazing that We the People are every where. And that was Friday.

Reading online I saw that 4500 motorcoach buses have pulled permits to be in DC today, Saturday.  That figures out to be roughly a quarter of a million people coming in via bus. One guy said his small Florida town had 67 people on the plane. That is just one small town. Many more never registered anywhere online, they drove in from Iowa, Texas, Missouri and you name it.

One man was a walking picture of America. I couldn’t help but stare at his hands as he sat on the Metro with us. They were huge, thick, solid, weathered with short nails embedded with grease. His face was chiseled, his body, although seasoned from what looked like a lifetime of working outside with his hands, was solid. He came to DC from Missouri with a friend. He wore faded overalls with a Henley shirt. A simple man with a mission, here in DC to tell Washington to knock it off.

THAT is what is happening today. People from all walks of America have arrived to send a message to the government that we are awake now and that things will never be the same for them. We have expectations of integrity and we have expectations of having accountable representation.

I’m off for coffee now, will try to write later.

The photo in this post is one that I took Friday and best represented my feelings regarding this moment in history.

March on Washington – 9-12 Project – Indiana, Nina Simone

We are preparing for our road trip to DC, the 912 Project. Nina Simone says it all: (bolding mine)

Birds flying high you know how I feel
Sun in the sky you know how I feel
Reeds driftin on by you know how I feel

(refrain:)
Its a new dawn
Its a new day
Its a new life
For me
And Im feeling good

Fish in the sea you know how I feel
River running free you know how I feel
Blossom in the tree you know how I feel

(refrain)

Dragonfly out in the sun you know what I mean, dont you know
Butterflies all havin fun you know what I mean
Sleep in peace when day is done
Thats what I mean

And this old world is a new world
And a bold world
For me

Stars when you shine you know how I feel
Scent of the pine you know how I feel
Oh freedom is mine
And I know how I feel

Pete Visclosky agrees. Northwest Indiana Patriots are Tea Baggers.

Something has been gnawing at me since I attended Pete Visclosky’s Town Hall in Chesterton Indiana. Pete represents District 1 (Indiana’s First Congressional District which includes Lake, Porter, Jasper, Newton and Benton Counties). He has been in office since 1984, serving 12 terms. (26 years come 2010). His daddy was a politician and I guess the dog doesn’t stray too far from the leash so Pete decided he wanted a similar career.  Considering that ‘serving’ the people as a congressman is a SERVICE to the people and not a career, this brings up the topic of Term Limits.  No politician should be making ‘serving the people’ a career as that concept by itself fosters decisions being made by politicians that center on holding onto the career/ jobs rather than listening to and carrying out the wishes of the people they ‘serve’. The priorities are backwards and the career politician’s decisions are influenced by his Party affiliation, big business (read $$ for campaigns), lobby groups (see $$ again). On the list of the pork barrel / earmarks, Visclosky ranks 8th, out of 435. His ‘war chest’ for re-election is much larger than any challenger. Sing it with me, “Money makes politicians go-round, politicians go-round, politicians go-round.”

See:  http://www.opensecrets.org/politicians/earmarks.php?cid=N00003813

“Pete Visclosky sponsored or co-sponsored 68 earmarks totaling $113,653,000 in fiscal year 2008 ranking 8th out of 435 representatives. To learn more about earmarks, visit Big Picture – Earmarks

Pete Visclosky comes back to Northwest Indiana bribing and intimidating us with our own money and we are supposed to thank him for his hard work.

Back to Chesterton and the Town Hall.  This town hall meeting was setup by the Democratic Alliance of Northwest Indiana (DANI).  Evidently that same group is in tight with the paid to play protest groups such as MoveOn, Acorn, AFL-CIO, SEIU and the list goes on.  Now how is it that the Democratic Party, not only in Indiana, but across the nation is working closely with leftist socialist groups? The paid-to-protest groups come out to support the Dems at every turn. The Indiana Tea Party Patriots, ordinary citizens who are nothing more than concerned citizens attended and outnumbered the paid protestors approx. 4 to 1.

Read here for the giddy blow by blow as told by Don Briggs who engineered the town hall event and called for Acorn, MoveOn and all of their ilk to attend and support socialism.

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2009/8/4/761608/-Tea-Baggers-FAIL-to-disrupt-Health-Care-meeting,-lessons-shared.

#8    “The DANI executive board consulted closely with Visclosky’s office to draft the Public Service Announcement and to set up ground rules for the meeting. So, we opened the meeting by laying down the ground rules.”

  1. And then in opening remarks, I blew the Tea Baggers’ cover. Roughly, it went like this:

“Meetings like this one continue a democratic tradition more than 2500 years old, that of the ancient Greek “Ecclesia.” The term means “those called out”—called out to discuss and decide civic matters, and to defend their ancient Greek city-states, to defend their democracy. And you all were called out by notices in the local papers, radio stations, by e-mail and internet, to discuss Health Care Reform and Clean Energy with our Representative tonight.

So know this: efforts to disrupt and thwart public discourse on civic matters are profoundly anti-democratic. But, that’s an obstacle we face tonight. It’s public knowledge that groups known as Tea Baggers intend to disrupt and thwart the public discourse on Health Care Reform in meetings like this during this month’s Congressional Recess. They want Democracy to fail. So, let’s face this obstacle together.

The Tea Baggers’ instructions are also public knowledge. If some people stand up, shout out and sit down; if some try to rattle us and the Congressman; if some pretend numeric superiority; if some try to stifle intelligent debate; then we can compare that behavior to the Tea Baggers’ instructions and draw our own conclusions.”

So, the self appointed dragon slayer of the people, the flealess leader Don Briggs of DANI, collaborated with VISCLOSKY in preparing his speech given to the attendees and approved calling the attendees ‘Tea Baggers’. One would think that Pete would tell Biggs, Mano e Mano, that the use of Tea Bagger is juvenile, completely disrespectful and offensive, especially at a town hall meeting with patriots in ages ranging from toddler to 90+ years old.  You would think that Pete Visclosky and his office, during this co-writing of this town hall introduction would have injected some adult stylized class and dignity and not taken low class shots at their constituents.  Such was not the case. Pete Visclosky and his representatives APPROVED the use of the phrase Tea Bagger and from what I hear (I was outside), Pete smirked when the word was used, showed no objection nor did he stand and correct Bigg’s classless attack on the people of Northwest Indiana.

Who does this?  Well, a politician so embedded with special interest groups, bribery tactics, and lobbyists does this as he has no need to respect and serve the people. The World According to Pete says that the people did not elect him, money elected him and Acorn, SEIU, Unions groups, lobby groups, THOSE are the money people and those are the people he caters to.

Go here to Acorn’s Report Card pdf where they rank Visclosky according to how well he has voted in favor of Acorn.

http://www.acorn.org/fileadmin/Centers/Press/Report/ACORN_Scorecard-ltr.pdf.

See Visclosky’s 89% approval rating with Acorn. He voted the way they wanted him to vote. This is just one example of one group that Pete caters to. If we could get him to actually tell us the truth, we would know much more regarding who is pulling his strings.

What are we doing sending a huge chuck of our money to DC only to have to beg to get it back? The State of Indiana wants us to think they are doing a great job when they ‘win’ some of our money back via a stimulus, grant or some other project funding?  How about just keeping our money in the State in the first place? That would greatly reduce our dependence on ‘begging for Federal  help’.

The Northwest Indiana Republican Party is in sedentary collusion with Visclosky and the Democratic Party.

I’m beginning to think that the Republican Party, at least when it comes to the 1st District of Indiana is in collusion with the Democratic Party. This may stand as the reason for the repubs holding up Leyva as their man. They knew from the get-go back in 2006 when they endorsed him he wouldn’t win and couldn’t win the 1st Congressional seat in Indiana. (Mark has actually stumped as a Republican Party candidate for House, Indiana, 1st District, since 2002.)

Do you keep running the same horse if he loses big every time, comes in last in every race? No, you don’t.  Who does that? People who don’t want to win do that. They will put a loser in the race. Hello, this is what the Republican Party has done to northwest Indiana.  They have abandoned us and are working with Visclosky and the Democratic Party.  They are in sedentary collusion with the Democratic Party. With that knowledge we can draw the parallel between the socialist bent of the Democratic Party, the Big Government mentality of the Dems and equate the Republican Party as being of the same mindset. As long as Visclosky brings in the pork and funds the Republican’s special interests the GOP is more than happy to have Visclosky carry the water.  Nowhere in this equation do The People enter into the equation and this is a serious matter because it leaves the citizens of northwest Indiana without representation from either party.

If you disagree, show me the difference.  Show me the Republican Party in NWI that does NOT want the government to control every movement of the citizens, all the while growing government while ignoring the Constitution.

Note: Don’t forget to make travel plans for the 9-12 Project. Cars, charter coaches and caravans are leaving northwest Indiana for the March on Washington, DC.  Check the web for details from any number of sites.
